From a call made from a birder to Bosque to Kent Clegg to myself, one
ultralight whooping crane has turned up October 25 in New Mexico.  The
nearest large city is Farmington.  Thus, the bird is west of the typical
San Luis Valley to Bosque migration route, but is close to the route
where it was flown south in the fall of 1997.  I'm guessing it may
continue on to Bosque.  It would know how to get there if it decides to
continue south.  The other ultralight whooping crane, one cross-fostered
adult, and the hybrid, were in the San Luis Valley from a report I had
   last week.
