NEW!!

The Corpus Christi Hawkwatch is thrilled to announce we now have a new local educator on board this year, just in time for the Fall 2009 season kickoff!

A long-time teacher and public television volunteer, Beth Hoekje (AKA
"The Bird Lady") has been presenting her programs on birds to students from K H.S. for over 10 years. Beginning September 14th, she will be available to speak to students and community groups about the value and identification of Birds of Prey, the need for conservation and the many local birders who will be counting the thousands of raptors as they make their fall 2009 migration over the Corpus Christi area near Hazel Bazemore County Park.

If you would like to invite Ms. Beth to your class/school, contact her by email at bhoekje at charter dot net, or call her at (361) 643-7755.

Sponsors for the Fall 2009 Corpus Christi Hawkwatch!

The Corpus Christi Hawkwatch at Hazel Bazemore Park is a Hawk Watch International (HWI) site.  Working with local partners and members, HWI puts significant time and financial resources into ensuring that the Corpus Christi Hawk Watch operates every year and in managing and reporting on the important data collected, so please help support their efforts and become a member.

Swarovski Optiks, one of the world's leading names in birding optics, continues support as a major watch sponsor.

The Law Offices of John Gilmore join us as a new sponsor; thank you, John!

The Audubon Outdoor Club of Corpus Christi and donations made in the memories of Richard W. Waits and Kenneth L. Spiess provide local support.

A special thanks to the Nueces County Parks and Recreation Department and their staff at Hazel Bazemore County Park for providing such a magnificent place to watch hawks.
