November 9, 1999
Hello everyone, a quality watch today, not one of quantity. There
were
two rare hawks: one immature white-tailed hawk at 10:30, and perhaps
more
of a surprise was a light phase rough-legged hawk (possible male) at
9:55. This is only the second time these species have been observed
at
the watch this season, the other dates were Sept. 9 (WTH) and Oct. 26
(RLH). Otherwise, there were a few red-taileds, kestrels, harriers,
and
accipiters hunting in the area.
