November 8, 1999
Hello all, an unusual flight dynamic today because 72 of the total 75
hawks were seen before noon. The cut-off coincided with a change in
the
wind direction, from north to west. The most interesting bird was a
single chimney swift that flew over at exactly noon. Today's
count:
15 Black Vulture
20 Turkey Vulture
1 Osprey
4 Northern Harrier
6 Sharp-shinned Hawk
13 Cooper's Hawk
5 Broad-winged Hawk
6 Red-tailed Hawk
3 American Kestrel
2 Unid. accipiter
75 Total Hawks
Until tomorrow,
Kyle McCarty
