Hi everyone, we had beautiful weather today and lots of hawks too. It's
cooled off a bit these past few days and made life easier out there. We
had some nice kettles of Mississippi Kites and Broad-wingeds. I had a
special treat just after 4pm when I was alone on the tower and an Osprey
came down and nabbed a nice foot-long fish from the bay. It flew around
looking for a place to dine and came within 15 feet overhead, clearly
drawn to the best seat in the area but it reluctantly flew off. I'm sure
we'll see it tomorrow. Today's count:

1 Osprey
2 Swallow-tailed Kite
254 Mississippi Kite
1 Northern Harrier
1 Sharp-shinned Hawk
4 Cooper's Hawk
131 Broad-winged Hawk
1 Swainson's Hawk
1 Red-tailed Hawk
13 American Kestrel
1 Merlin
1 Unidentified Accipiter
1 Unidentified Falcon

412 Total Hawks

Until tomorrow,
Kyle McCarty
