Hello everyone. Hope you all had a nice holiday. I guess my server took
the day off yesterday too as I was unable to post Monday's count, which
I've included today.

Sept. 6:  We had a good mix of hawks today, including an excellent look
at a Swallow-tailed Kite just before noon. Another interesting bird was a
partial albino Broad-winged Hawk that had a white primary feather.
Monday's count:

1 Osprey
1 Swallow-tailed Kite
12 Mississippi Kite
2 Northern Harrier
6 Cooper's Hawk
4 Red-shouldered Hawk
17 Broad-winged Hawk
2 Swainson's Hawk
45 Total hawks

Sept. 7: An early north wind flipped around to the south and killed the
flight. However, a cold front is expected to move through southeast Texas
on Thursday and into the Gulf on Friday, bringing north/northeast winds,
so we hope for a good start to the weekend. Tuesday's count:

11 Mississippi Kite
1 Cooper's Hawk
1 Red-shouldered Hawk
33 Broad-winged Hawk
1 American Kestrel
47 Total hawks

Until tomorrow,
Kyle McCarty
