Hazel Bazemore Hawk Watch, Fall 1999
Date:   10-12-99

Hi everyone,

Well, it's been "that" kind of week for everyone, I think! Joel's rushing to catch up after  an incredibly busy week on his side of town, too; so we're putting the reports for 10/13 and 10/14 together. Also note the correction to the report for 10/12. This will be reflected in the new season totals that will pick up again starting on 10/15.

Do you know the old saw about burning the candle at both ends?  Well the past four days seem like we have done that plus the middle as well.  On the 12th my report was off by two, it was my mistake, missed putting on two Red-shouldered Hawks.  Anyway below is the report for the past couple of days.

On Wednesday we had one good hour with actual kettles of broad-wings before being rained out.  Yesterday was busy all day after a slow start from the fog.  The first Sandhill Cranes and American Wigeons of the season along with Rose-breasted Grosbeck and Vermillion Flycatcher were the highlights for the dickie bird list.  Mosquitoes have been horrendous, can't wait for the cold front this weekend.
