Hazel Bazemore Hawk Watch, Fall 1999
Date:   10-07-99

Hi everyone,

Apologies; tonight's report's going to be abbreviated, due to the late hour. I'll catch up the season-to-date numbers later.

Joel's report from the hill today:

Another cool day, but few raptors. An adult light morph Ferruginous Hawk
was the highlight along with a visit from a couple from South Africa.
After showing them a few of our raptors they showed us their field guide
from their country. For the next half hour Fernando and I salivated over
the nearly 70 species of raptors and the couples descriptions of their
habits. I'm ready to go tomorrow!! In the 10 to 11 falcons was the Pygmy
Falcon that is the size of a cardinal. Snake hawks, buzzards (not
vultures), condors, and so many fascinating raptors it boggles the mind.
Still, they were impressed with many of our raptors as well.
