Hazel Bazemore Hawk Watch, Fall 1999

Hi everyone,

Well, my eyes were glued to nexrad all day at work and wouldn't you know it, nearly all the sites I wanted to watch, including the Corpus Christi nexrad, were in precip mode! Arrgghhh!! Finally got clear air from Corpus towards the end of the day. Some interesting squiggles.

Here's Joel's report from the hill:

"The day started out totally overcast and rainy, then good puffies for the middle of the day, and ended with blue skies. A late lift-off of 7646 broadies started our day off right, most came between noon and 1 pm, a hour total of 25,102, and ended very slow. Probably will not be much of a lift-off tomorrow."

"The bird of the day was an immature Bald Eagle found by John Economidy, and yes he got pictures, all 35 or so people on the watch were treated with excellent views. Both Prairie Falcons today had good attitudes but we did get a report of three sitting fairly close together about 15 miles to the north near Sinton. Tomorrow will probably be a barn burner."
