Hazel Bazemore Hawk Watch, Fall 1999
Date:   08-28-99

Greetings, all:

Good day at the watch today, and how about those STKI's??? Amazing! A body could get spoiled very quickly at those numbers. Sorry I wasn't on the hill today, too, to see it. Sounds like quite a show!

Here's Joel's report:

-------------------

The best day yet at the watch with nine species and a total of 574. Three Swallow-tailed Kites at 5:05 pm were missed by some (like me) that left a little early. There were nine observers and ten guests during the day.

4 Swallow-tailed Kite
555 Mississippi Kite
1 Northern Harrier (male, first of the season)
1 Sharp-shinned Hawk (also first of the season)
1 Broad-winged Hawk
5 Swainson's Hawk
3 Red-tailed Hawk
1 White-tailed Hawk (definitely moving south)
2 American Kestrel
1 Unidentified Buteo
574 Total
