Hazel Bazemore Hawk Watch
08-26-99
Another quickie report; good numbers of kites this week. Here's Joel's
report:
Today started out with five Mississippi Kites coming out of the trees
along
the Nueces and passing just overhead. It was good that we had this
good
view because the rest of the day the kites were high and far away.
Ended
with a low flyby of our first kestrel of the season, a female.
315 Mississippi Kite
2 Swainson's Hawk
1 Red-tailed Hawk
1 American Kestrel
Very few other birds today:
Anhinga (480)
Wood Stork (3)
Common Nighthawk
Olive-sided Flycatcher
Green Jay (first of the year)
Kiskadee
- Joel
Eyes skyward; the flyways are spooling up!
