Hazel Bazemore Hawk Watch
08-19-99
Greetings, all:
Quick report tonight; better day; Fernando got his solo wings on watch today and brought 'em in for us! Here's Joel's report:
-----------------------
Patty,
It was Fernando's first day at the watch by himself and he did good. He fought the heat, humidity, and cloudless skies to record 77 total migrating raptors.
Mississippi Kite
Cooper's Hawk
Red-shouldered Hawk
Broad-winged Hawk
Swainson's Hawk
Red-tailed Hawk
Unidentified Buteo
Unidentified Raptor
Sorry no dickie bird list today.
Joel
-----------------------
Dickie bird is our nickname for the list of other birds seen at the watch. Sometimes we keep a list; sometimes we don't.
One update: the Celebration of Flight page on the web site has been updated to include a list of hotels that Joel has talked into giving hawk watchers a discount during the Celebration. If you haven't made your reservations yet for the third week in September, check it out:
Good job, Joel!!
Cheers,
Patty
