12 September 1998, Smith Point Hawk Watch
No migrants today--20 to 30 mph south winds are no doubt the reason.
Great soaring conditions--if you are a pelican or a frgatebird, hanging
high over the coastline in the slope-lift. I will check again
later in
the afternoon if the winds lighten.
Correction--we sent out two reports yesterday, Sept. 11. The second
one
contained 5 hawks. The heading from a previous day (Sept. 9)
was
accidentally retained at the top of that list.
