Hazel Bazemore Hawk Watch, Fall 1998

Report Date:  10/20/98

Glenn gave it a valiant effort, but the weather still refuses to completely cooperate. Makes for good copy, though! Here's his report:

"I sat on the hill for four and a half hours, the mist sent me running home at 12:30, today. What a strange day it was."

"The first surprise was when I pull into the site, I thought somebody left the biggest bag of chocolate candy in the whole wide world on the hill and it had melted and run down the hill. There was a big chocolate lake from the base of the hill all the way to the river."

"It was foggy this morning, but I figured it would burn off in a couple of hours. Never did. The top of the radio tower remained out of sight almost the whole time." (NOTE: the microwave tower is about 150 feet away from the watch site hill crest. - Patty)

"I was the only one out there to slap those little vampires, but I did a
fair job at it. I will need help at it in a couple of days when the mosquito offspring hatch out from the other half of those vampires that I missed."

"Well, I guess it's time to throw the hawk numbers out:

   ZIP!         NONE!           NOT A ONE!

"Today everybody will have to happy with just a dicky bird list. The numbers might be wrong on today's list; I can't tell what's a dot or what's a blood splat."
