Hazel Bazemore Hawk Watch, Fall 1998
Report Date: 09/20/98
And a yet a third day of five-digit counts. Getting late so I won't
bore
you with too many details. Gotta mention the Swainson's giving a passing
peregrine a smack on the head just for good measure, to apparently
insure
the peregrine kept going out of its territory!
The broadies came through in bulk in the mid-afternoon again. Another
sweltering no-wind morning, but once the breezes started, the broadies
blasted through. One single on-going flight totalled more than 10,000
broadwings, coming from three directions at once and lasting more than
15
minutes.
Thanks for all the help from our out-of-town friends who came in; over
22
visitors on site today. Sure good to see our old friends back on the
hill;
better than a class reunion! Good birding to all; this week is gonna
be a
goodie, at all the watches. Keep that chocolate flowing!
