Report Date:  August 21, 1998

Greetings all,

Joel says the watch closed early today, due to rains. Haven't gotten the
brunt yet from Tropical Storm Charley (is that a male or a female storm?
Must be male; it's smaller than Bonnie <grin!>).

The Mississippi kites apparently came in during a 20 minute period, just
ahead of the rains that shut down the watch.

Mississippi Kite        396
Swainson's Hawk           1
Red-tailed Hawk           1
        Total           398

Not including the lift-off from those that landed last night, Joel says
they counted 315 Anhingas.  Also of note for Joel was his first Baltimore
Oriole of the season. Bill and I had one August 9th; a couple others have
been reported. Not too many here yet, apparently.

No telling WHAT we're gonna see once this tropical storm comes and goes. We
wait with bated breath .... !
