WINDY! Peak gust nearly blew us off the hill, but the turkey vultures just surfed the air that much faster and kept pouring over.

Seen throughout the week, since last Sunday or so according to Joel:  approximately 100 sandhill cranes per day through yesterday. Only a few today.

OTHER species observed over/at the watch site:  14 anhingas; 9 sandhill cranes; 1 blue-gray gnatcatcher; approx. 100+ monarchs per hour.

NOT seen over the hawk watch site, but still of interest for the area:

    23 whooping cranes now arrived in and near Aransas National Wildlife Refuge
