NO HAWK WATCH TODAY --- RAINED OUT for day #3. Since Thursday, Glenn and Joel tell me a little over eight inches of rain have fallen at the watch site. The Nueces River is up several feet; and Joel's boat dock is completely under water. (We're up to eighteen inches since Thursday at our south Corpus Christi home; does anyone know any rain-please-stop dances?) At least the water shed for our city water reservoirs is getting badly needed rain.
Tex, the local resident Texana red-shouldered hawk and unofficial mascot of the hawk watch, must have missed the counters and watch crews these last few days, and decided to go and find Joel and Glenn. Joel says he found him camped out in his yard for awhile this morning (Glenn lives just a few houses away further up the bluff and sees Tex at his house from time to time -- smart bird!).
Here are the season totals, again, just to put up some numbers .... and the updated list of local sponsors who've joined our hawk watch efforts since the start of the season. Many, many thanks to all of our sponsors, and also to our visitors, some of whom came great distances to be with us; your support and presence is very sincerely appreciated by us all.
