The Fall 2008 Corpus Christi Hawk Watch at Hazel Bazemore County Park is active and open for business!!

Click on the broadwinged hawk below to go right to the 2008 Fall reports:

Intrepid hawk watchers are back on the hill and on our brand new platform, watching the spring raptor migration! It's not a full watch, just a counting here and there for fun by volunteers, and their efforts are being well rewarded. Check out Libby Even's eyewitness report by clicking on this link!

Each fall season, we're on the hill from August 1 through November 15, two extra weeks of heat, hawks and chocolate!

2008 NEWS ALERT!
We have a hawk watch platform!

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Joel Simon in conjunction with the Nueces County Commissioners Court and the Nueces County Parks Department, along with many other supporters, our dream of a hawk watch observation platform is now a reality!

Click on the image above to view photos of the February 16, 2008 dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

And just in time, too, as the Fall 2008 hawk season will begin August 1st this year! Our counters are already chomping at the bit to get on the platform after the spring unofficial trial. Be sure and make your travel plans now -- this season promises to be the best one yet!

A quick note about the information on this site:  reports from 2001 forward include updated and correct link references to this permanent domain as well as other links referenced in the text of those sections. In the interest of maintaining the original flavor and integrity of the archival sites (year 2000 and older), most, if not all, of the original information and content has been left intact and only navigational links within this domain have been updated. Consequently, some or all links to outside sites in those sections and/or pages may not work correctly. Just be aware of this as you cruise through the older sections, and thank you for your interest in the phenomenon of hawk watching in Texas!

2003 HMANA Conference - March 27-30, 2003:  It was awesome! Did you make it to the conference? No worries, if not. I've got you covered.  I never can take just one photo.  For this gig, I took several hundred and finally got a bunch of them sorted, tweaked, polished and beaten into shape for some slide shows:
