18.
Seventeen enthusiastic DigiCam folks started off the New Year
meeting on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at the Parkdale Library.
The meeting started with an unannounced 2003 DigiCam photo contest.
There were 10 photo assignments in year 2003. Nineteen different
people showed over 700 photos of the various assignments. These
photos were submitted to a Digital Camera SIG leader in CA for
judging.
And . . . . The winners are best photo to Dauris Granberry for her
Gardens assignment shot and most interesting photo to Patty Beasley
for her entry - Close Ups Macros of living things. Congratulations
ladies. There were also 28 runners up winners by nine SIG
photographers. Click HERE to
see all of the winners and runners up.
Beware: we may have a contest in 2004!
The group then viewed MSN's THE YEAR IN PICTURES 2003. Fantastic
pictures grouped into Editors Choice and Peoples Choice. These are
best of the best.

Finally our monthly assignment was shown. The assignment was titled
"Christmas/Holidays: What it means to you."
To mention a few -
Bruce Switalla - Del Mar College Tuba concert
Patty Beasley - Family scenes, manger scene
John Hoffmann - Traditional eating
Susan Fabrish - Churches, La Posada boats
Herman Bell - Senior Friends Xmas party, Santa
Pam Bomar - People, grand daughter
Sharron Hord - Church, Xmas party, poinsettias
Bill Draper - 1950 Xmas in Korea, La Posada boats
Norm Gigstead - Outdoor lighting, decorations
John Hoffmann discussed our 2004 program. A list of 18 possible
assignments was handed out for everyone's comments by e mail.
Teaching/sharing/ideas were also exchanged. One idea is to share
your favorite pictures say from a vacation or any other subject.
Already, three people have volunteered to make a showing at the
monthly meeting - just schedule the event.
In February, Ben Luna will make a presentation of his Hawaii photos.
Of course we will show our monthly assignment photos. The assignment
for showing February 17 is SUNRISES/SUNSETS.
For the scribe,
John Hoffmann
